As per Recommendation #114 of the Seven Youth Inquest (June 28, 2016), there has been “an identified need for an alternative detoxification facility in the City of Thunder Bay that would provide the proper supports and supervision for any youth who may be struggling with alcohol/substance misuse.” The KOBE Safe Sober Sites are available for our students, aged 13-21 years of age, that need a safe and supervised detoxification and stabilization. KOBE will work in co-operation with local service providers to provide a quick response to meet the needs of our students.

The Youth Residential Workers will work under the direction of the Safe Sober Site Lead and the KOBE Inquest Manager, in the implementation and delivery of detoxification services for youth who are in the KOBE Student Services Program.
