Job Purpose

To attain the basic required skill level for a Utility Operator on the Pot Line through on‑the‑job training. To assist the Assistant Cell Operator, Cell Operator/Cell Technician in operating reduction cells to produce molten aluminium effectively & efficiently.

Key Accountabilities

• Assists the PTM operator in changing anodes safely and to the required standard, by removing and replacing back pot shields, transferring anode reference mark, monitoring the pot voltage, activating/deactivating the anode set logic and anode dressing.
• Assists and ensures that pot beam raising operation is performed as per procedure and in a safe manner.
• Prepares the tapping hole prior to metal tapping.
• Skims the crucible to remove dross.
• Performs metal and bath sampling for quality and chemistry control purposes.
