Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science. A Post Doctoral researcher is required to support research activities in the field of ruminant livestock production and enteric methane emissions. The focus of this project is to develop feed and feed additive based solutions to reduce enteric methane emissions from pasture based dairy cows with the investigation of concurrent impacts on rumen physiology, rumen fermentation and the rumen microbiome. Associated impacts on animal performance, milk yield, quality and processability will also be determined. While a range of solutions have been developed internationally to address enteric methane emissions in housed systems, Ireland's pasture based-dairy production systems necessitate bespoke solutions.
