Main Job Duties & Responsibilities
Operate and maintain machines, tools, and equipment including: Vertical and horizontal mills
Lathes
Surface grinders
Drills, saws, and assorted measuring tools Work with a variety of materials, including: Aluminum, mild steel
Tool steels (A2, A6, D2, S7, O1, CPM10V, CPM M4)
Brass, copper, stainless steel
Plastics and phenolics Plan and execute all stages of toolmaking projects independently in a cost-effective manner, including: Cutting raw stock
Milling, drilling, and grinding
Heat treating
Finish grinding and EDM Collaborate directly with engineers and technical personnel to: Modify tooling
Build jigs, fixtures, and gauges
Coordinate with external vendors as needed Take full ownership of product quality by identifying and eliminating non-conformances
Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor
