The Surgical Technologist First Assistant performs various tasks supporting perioperative services, including preparation of operating room, transport of patients, supplies, equipment, and specimens. This position assists surgeons, anesthesiologists, registered nurses, and other members of an operating room team by preparing patients for their procedures and sterilizing equipment to maintain environmental cleanliness before, during and after surgical procedures. This position, also, provides technical assistance to the surgeon by passing instruments, assuring the functioning of instruments, and keeping instruments free of debris during surgical procedures.
