The Urology department in Blackburn is a outpatient, ward and offices. The Urology ward is based on B14. The outpatient’s suite has facilities for flexible cystoscopies and transperineal and transrectal ultrasound and prostate biopsies. The department also has two Holmium:YAG and one Thulium-fibre laser machines that are used for endourology. In addition, there is two TULA laser machine to enable flexible cystoscopy and bladder tumour ablations procedures in the out-patient setting.
On the Burnley site there is a Urology Investigations Unit (UIU), which is a large, purpose-built unit where flexible cystoscopy, urodynamics, TULA laser ablations and perineal precision point prostate biopsy sessions, and out-patient (OP) clinics take place.
