DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to candidates who possess the following:

(1) Special Education Certification and experience AND

(2) Master's degree in Deaf Education, or childhood education, is preferred

(3) Eligibility for NYS certification as a Teacher of the Deaf; Special Needs AND

(4) The ability to successfully complete a Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) at the proficiency level defined for each job position as determined by SMSD.
