Research Assistant | Laboratory of Structural Biophysics and Mechanobiology

Company

Rockefeller University

Location

New York, United States

Type

Full-time

Organization Overview

Cells are constantly subjected to mechanical forces that originate either externally from the environment or internally from cellular machinery. Headed by Dr. Gregory M. Alushin, the Laboratory of Structural Biophysics and Mechanobiology studies how cells use changes in the conformation of actin filaments within their internal skeletons to sense and respond to those forces. Over the long term, the lab seeks to understand how changes to actin are linked to alterations in gene expression in development and disease.
Overview

The research assistant will focus on biochemical, cell biological, and biophysical experiments focused on how mechanical signals are transmitted across cell-cell interfaces. This will include developing labeling reagents, culturing and labeling cells, and performing superresolution fluorescence microscopy experiments. Additional responsibilities will include assisting with laboratory support.
