The Acute Cardiac/Stroke Unit, 3 South, at Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center provides care for patients with cardiac conditions including heart failure, cardiac rhythm disturbances, newly implanted permanent pacemakers and defibrillators, post- coronary interventions, post-ablation, myocardial infarctions. 3 South also cares for pre/post catheterization, and acute stroke. This 24-bed unit sees a ratio of 1:6 with assistance of Patient Care Techs with a ratio of 1:8 on average. The unit cares for patients with acuity higher than a typical medic...
