Company Description
About the unit: We are a 16 bed Observation unit. 75% of our patients come from PACU, needing a 1-2 night stay in the hospital after their surgery. The other 25% of our patients come from the Emergency Room. The goal length of stay for patients on this unit is between 8-36 hours. Patients typically discharge home after their hospital stay. Common surgical procedures seen on this unit include: joint replacements, shoulder and ankle surgeries, GYN, and other various procedures that require a one night hospital stay. This unit is accredited by the Join Commission since 2017 for our Hip and Knee replacement program. We have designated Charge Nurses on the unit. New staff members are partnered with a preceptor and mentor to help acclimate them to the unit. We promote participation in Shared Governance, which helps drive decision making at the bedside.
