**Job Description:**

The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of patients. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process by use of technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence-based practice and coordination of care with other health team members.
_The Emergency Department is a 73-bed unit that specializes in Emergency/Trauma Care. We are 1 of only 3, Level 1 Trauma Centers in Utah and have a large catchment area that serves not only the Salt Lake Valley and the state of Utah, but many other states in the Intermountain West. We are a very large and busy department, providing emergency care for ~90,000 patients per year. While our typical nurse to patient ratio is 1:4, with the acuity that we see that ratio varies.
