Job Summary The Radiation Therapy Technician:
- Administers radiation treatments according to the treatment prescription authorized by the radiation oncologist
- Obtains images used to plan and target the radiation
- Assesses patient condition prior to simulation/treatment administration
- Provides patient education on an ongoing basis throughout the course of simulation/treatment.
When assigned to CT simulation, the Radiation Therapy Technician:
- Creates immobilization and treatment aid/accessory devices specific for each patient
- Utilizes technical knowledge operating a CT scanner and MED RAD power injector for IV contrast administration
- Obtains and analyzes cross sectional imaging for treatment planning according to the physician intent
- Obtains IV sites for contrast administration and performs blood draws as indicated.
