A full time Post-Doctoral research position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Charles Hong in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Maryland-Baltimore as of June 1, 2018. MD, PhD or MD/PhD scientist is sought to join a laboratory at the forefront of academic drug discovery, cardiovascular biology and human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs). The Hong laboratory has identified small molecules that enhance cardiac performance in human IPSC-derived cardiomyocytes (iPSC-CMs). The first goal is to examine the mechanism of action of these small molecules by identifying their cellular targets using cell biological and biochemical approaches. Second goal is to utilize CRISPR/Cas9 genomic engineering technology to examine the impact of genomic ablation of the candidate target genes on iPSC-CM and animal models. Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. or M.D. and expertise in techniques of cell and molecular biology. Depending on background and interest, the post-doc will perf...
