Supervises the human resource management functions of the department inclusive of interviewing, hiring, orienting, payroll management, staffing, scheduling, performance evaluations, coaching and disciplinary action (when indicated). Develops and maintains staffing levels to meet the needs of the Pathologists, department and budgetary constraints. Functions as a key point person in implementation of new procedures workflows, equipment as needed. Ensures orientation and training of clinical and clerical staff to department, job and safe use of equipment. Communicates performance standards and expectations clearly to staff; assists staff in setting goals and meeting standards. Provides effective performance appraisals, including the establishment of achievable goals and objectives, to direct reports.
