The Medical Intermediate Care Unit (MICU) is organized under the Cardiac and Pulmonary Diseases Department, which in turn is part of the Medical Clinic. There are currently 15 beds assigned to the field of cardiology, of which 6 beds belong to MICU. Overall, the department covers most heart diseases except invasive cardiology and other specialised examinations. The Unit is also responsible for inserting pacemakers for patients living within the Helse Fonna health region. The Medical Intermediate Care Unit (MICU) receives and treats emergency and critically ill patients with complex and difficult diagnoses in the field of internal medicine. The Unit treats patients who need cardiological or medical intermediate monitoring and care. We treat emergency/threatened myocardial infarction, arrhythmia problems, heart failure and other acute heart diseases.
