Hospitalists typically work a 7 on, 7 off model of 12-hour shifts. During the week, two physicians and two APPs round with a shift start time of 7 AM. Providers alternate in a round-and-go model with at least one provider staying until 7 PM. An admitter comes in a 10 AM and works until 10 PM. The night provider comes in at 7 PM and works until 7 AM. On the weekends, the admitter become a rounder, and there are no APPs and no admitter; the physicians admit in round robin fashion.
