Purpose:
The Hospice Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, training, and supervision of the volunteer component of hospice services to terminally ill patients and serves as a member of the interdisciplinary group.
Essential Job Functions:
Recruits and screens applicants for volunteer services in the area of patient support/respite service, bereavement support, or administrative support.Oversees and provides comprehensive volunteer training. Assesses patient/family/caregiver for volunteer needs and makes appropriate assignment of volunteers.Makes initial joint visit with volunteer to introduce volunteer services to the patient/family/caregiver, completes the Volunteer Activity Plan.Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in the implementing, review, and revision of the patient’s/family’s plan of care and assists in the determination of volunteer needs.
