Overview
The UHNM GI Physiology unit is a small team providing upper and lower gastrointestinal investigations, including high‑resolution manometry, 24‑hour pH and impedance monitoring, hydrogen breath testing, anorectal manometry, and a comprehensive biofeedback therapy service.
Responsibilities
- Conduct physiological measurement investigations: oesophageal manometry, oesophageal pH impedance studies, hydrogen and methane breath testing, anorectal physiology, and wireless pH monitoring.
- Support the provision of comprehensive bowel behavioural therapy within the pelvic floor multidisciplinary team, including patient education sessions, advice and medication review, counselling, and computer‑aided biofeedback techniques.
- Provide analysis and high‑quality diagnostic reports of investigations and assess the appropriateness of tests.
