Head of Building Control

Overview

We are looking for a Head of Building Control who wants to be at the heart of Liverpool as it prepares for major international events such as the Tour de France Grand Départ 2027 and UEFA EURO 2028. The role delivers safe, compliant and high‑quality development across the city.

Responsibilities

• Lead on‑site supervision of major construction schemes across the city.
• Manage and develop a multidisciplinary team of Registered Building Inspectors, trainees and structural engineers.
• Manage the service, shape policy and lead on the service for local, regional and international events and meetings.
• Implement and enforce the Safety at Sports Grounds Act, covering all three major football stadiums within the Liverpool boundary.
• Work to increase the market share for Building Control and prepare competitive fee proposals.
