Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, Aviation Logistics Center (ALC), Aviation Logistics Division (ALD), Logistics Compliance Branch, Elizabeth City, North Carolina Responsibilities The primary purpose of this position is to to classify, rate, and procure shipment of freight for the entire Coast Guard complex. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Determining freight classification for aircraft and electronic parts and equipment. Determining most economical rates and routes and which are appropriate and legally applicable for the movement of domestic and foreign freight. Preparing all pertinent documentation such as bills of lading, customs, hazardous certification, TCMD's. Determining the appropriate cost effective carrier and mode.
