SMH is a 600+ bed community and academic teaching hospital and the largest acute‑care facility within the Fraser Health Authority, serving a population of over 600,000. It functions as a regional referral centre for complex and high‑acuity care, supporting major programs including oncology, thoracic surgery, trauma, critical care, nephrology, maternal‑child health, and one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the province.
