Deputy Sheriff

The Deputy Sheriff, under the direct supervision of the Sergeant, performs varied assignments maintaining order and discipline among detainees remanded to the custody of the Sheriff. The Deputy Sheriff is responsible for the supervision, protection, care, custody and control or investigation of incarcerated inmates and other detainees. This class works under general supervision and requires considerable judgment, initiative, and skill in a variety of situations. Responsibilities require consistent attention and commitment to the agency's mission. All assigned duties and tasks are expected to be performed in an effective, efficient and safe manner. The jobholder must accept the responsibility to support and promote the organization's mission and comply with its directives.
