Work independently to program, setup and operate CNC machines, including Proto Trak machines. Also monitor part quality per engineering drawings, sketches, or other documentation, including verbal instruction, using measuring devices. Often tasks assigned may be considered production runs of high quantities. The individual is expected to plan, program, and execute a series of machining operations to produce parts of acceptable quality. Work is to be performed at the lowest cost consistent with quality standards and tolerance requirements. Essential Responsibilities Evaluate parts to be manufactured for the most cost-effective application of existing CNC equipment. Plan sequence of operations for parts to be manufactured. Select and requisition tooling as needed. Create and maintain CNC programs and related documentation so that programs are easily retrieved, setup, and run.
