Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department and following infection control practices.
Runs biological and chemical tests at beginning of day and records in appropriate log. Runs test packs sterilizer load and records results. Receives and cleans soiled instruments and other usable patient supply items in decontamination area. Assembles packages and sterilizes all instruments and equipment.Sorts all sterile items, stores in proper place, and organizes sterile supplies. Complies with PPE requirements. Effective and efficient use of equipment, supplies and people. Identifies inefficiencies and inaccuracies, responding appropriately. Actively participates in departmental/facility PI activities.
