- Design 2D flat patterns for composite layups, considering forming constraints and structural needs. - Develop 3D forming patterns from 2D layouts, incorporating spring-back and forming behavior. - Design and engineer thermal forming molds based on 3D CAD data, with consideration for manufacturability and performance. - Create 2D waterjet nesting programs to optimize material usage and cut efficiency. - Perform FEA analysis for: + Simulating the forming process + Evaluating stress, strain, and structural integrity of final parts + Providing actionable feedback to customers to improve and optimize their designs - Interface with customers and internal teams to ensure engineering solutions align with performance requirements and expectations. - Lead or contribute to hands-on mold tuning and thermal forming trials. - Collaborate closely with the machine shop during the tool fabrication process.
