The Ambulatory Care Technician (ACT) provides medical assistance to nurses and physicians in the overall care of patients, including technical procedures such as phlebotomy, and intramuscular and subcutaneous injections. The ACT functions under the clinical guidance of the Physician and/or APN when performing clinical tasks during patient care. Demonstrates competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care. Assists with maintaining an inventory of examination/procedure room supplies. Assists in the organization of efficient patient flow. Provides HIV, STI, and pregnancy testing, and processes authorizations and referrals, as needed.
