Position Summary:
The School Nurse is responsible for strengthening and facilitating the educational process by promoting, improving, and maintaining the health status of students. The School Nurse serves as a resource person in matters of health education, health promotion and function as an integral part of the school staff.
Essential Duties:
Provides health screening for students referred by school personnel, parents and coordinating agencies. Functions within state and district policies to provide health care to all students. Monitors the school immunization program in accordance with Immunization Law. Participates in health screening programs and provides guidance, counseling, or follow-up as needed by referring students and/or their families to appropriate health care agencies for services.
