**Cross-Site Academic Team**
The Academic Team engage students and educators at all levels on the island of Ireland (primary, secondary, and third level). We are an external technical evangelism team, with a mission to promote STEM at primary and secondary levels and establish Microsoft Azure as the cloud platform of choice for 3rd level students and lecturers. We work in tandem with an Education Sales Team, but our mission is to inspire, support and empower educators and students.
Through immersive teaching and learning experiences, DreamSpace at Microsoft Ireland inspires students and teachers to see how technology can enhance education in exciting new ways, helping them to realise the full potential of what they can achieve.
+ **Primary School** **Experience** :The students of Ireland have limitless potential. The DreamSpace primary school experience is designed to stretch the boundaries of their creativity. Through the use of innovative technologies, students will discover the world of tomorrow and imagine their place in it.
+ **Transition Year and Key Stage 4** **Experience** :These students are discovering their place in the world. Many are going to need some guidance and a little inspiration on their journey. We’ve developed DreamSpace to be the place in which they can start to embrace their future potential.
The Academic Intern has a dual role of back-office team management, and student facing engagements. You will manage your time as follows:
1. 50% of your time is dedicated to supporting the DreamSpace Team; presenting STEM activities to visiting students and teachers. The DreamSpace welcomes 2 schools each day to Microsoft, students are primary and secondary. Activities focus on Computational Thinking, introductory coding, Minecraft, Micro:bit, Mixed Reality and more.
1. 25% of your time creating and publishing new STEM content for students and teachers, including lesson plans and instructional tutorials, videos, podcasts, and blogs.
1. 25% of your time planning, managing, and hosting events in Microsoft. Reporting on the AcademicTeam’s activities, including understanding where and how we engage, writing sponsorship agreements, placing purchase orders, organising, confirming,and hosting visits, along with general program management of marketing activities.
**B** **aseline requirements:**
+ You must be enrolled on an undergraduate course that allows you to complete a12-monthplacement starting in September.
+ Ideally educational background in teaching (primary or secondary), science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (or cognate discipline). Other disciplines (such as business) may be considered and should apply.
+ Experience and interest in public presenting (e.g. teaching, CoderDojo mentoring, scouts/guides leadership or sports coaching) is required. Ability to present to and engage with visiting children essential as 50% of the role will involve directly presenting to school pupils (2.5 days a week).
+ Candidates must be able to meet Garda vetting requirements for child safety.
