**Purpose of the role:**
Responsible for the driving Category Development agenda in European Partner Markets through upskilling and engaging partners as well as providing them with the relevant set of tools. Builds enduring partnerships with key stakeholders at all levels. Leads the deployment of the Adult Drinks Category Strategy through to execution in partnership with partners, delivering category and Diageo growth.
This role is responsible for transforming the way we drive Category Development and Adult Drinks Category Strategy with key EPM (European Partner Markets) off-trade customers. Our ambition is to become the No.1 CPG company for Category Development, seen as the indispensable “go to” experts by our customers. It requires strategic thought leadership and the ability to turn strategy into action in order to drive category and share growth.
The individual will create and deliver the plan for how we engage key EPM off-trade customers with category opportunities, embedding Category Strategy to maximise category growth and Diageo performance. The individual will develop strong relationships with distributor-based commercial team, enabling them to shape the future of our category with the key customers. They will be effectively networked throughout the commercial teams across markets and will have the influencing skills and tenacity to drive change.
The role will also be responsible for creating a set of tools and expertise database on category development activities, such as (but not limited to): ranging principles, shelf layout guidelines, activating against consumption occasions, followed by upskilling and engaging distributor-based teams to be the driving force of Category Development agenda. The individual will also ensure a two-way flow of insights and best practice to drive the future agenda. The role will be responsible for driving Adult Drinks Category Strategy agenda in order to reframe our dialogue with key customers from “selling” activities into insights-based single-pack offer of Brand, Portfolio and Category activations as well as innovation aimed at Triple Win (for customer, customer and Diageo).
Success in this role will mean the level our distributor-based teams are equipped with CatDev tools and expertise as well as Category Strategy has been step-changed. They are fully capable of being Category Development ambassadors when facing customers. Brilliant relations between the individual and partners are built as well.
+ Lead the Category agenda with key Central Europe Off Trade customers across TBA including Premium Core, Reserve, LADs and Innovation
+ Drive category expertise beyond the cluster into Europe
+ Transform Diageo’s category approach, identify the biggest opportunities both new and existing profit pools
+ Bring the category vision to life with them and implement sub category strategies and perfect outlet blueprints.
+ Be the customers’ most trusted category advisor and the first port of call for category insight.
**Qualifications and Experience Required:**
The individual needs to be very analytical and exceptional at taking issues and information through to penetrating insights and implications. They must have strong customer understanding, underpinned by experience in Sales, Trade Marketing or Category Development, and must possess excellent relationship building skills, combined with an ability to engage and influence with impact and tenacity, resulting in executional excellence.
Degree educated and 3-5 years experience in Category Development, Commercial or Trade Marketing. Fluency in English is essential.
