Cree is looking to add a Power Field Applications Engineer (FAE) in Munich, Germany area (Unterschleißheim). Cree is expanding the power SiC based field support that will be strategic for company future growth. The candidate we are looking for will be part of a growing world class team to drive continued success in our core markets and help shape the future of high power SiC applications.Summary: The Field Application Engineer provides technical support to customers, convinces customers to use SiC power devices in designs, and converts opportunities into design wins. Job Responsibilities:Work with Sales Account Managers to aggressively win designs and grow revenue.Qualify opportunity and determine if there is a fit for SiC power device.Pre-sales support to convince customer of SiC system benefits and selling SiC’s value.Support the customer through the design cycle from sample, prototype, pilot, pre-production, to production with hardware debug, system level knowledge.Work with customer on Quality claims and determine root cause of field/application failuresSufficient technical knowledge to support field requests with minimal factory support.Work in Munich Lab to determine best practice of use of SiC components and generate new knowledge.Manage and train distribution FAEs.Communicate effectively with factory for technical requests.Provide customer feedback, application trends to Marketing for new product development. Requirements:BSc. in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or similar with 3-5 yrs semiconductor FAE experience or similar work in an application laboratory or development department in power electronics in the power range from 1kW to 50kW.Strong technical communication skills; ability to communicate with customer development/application engineers on system level & component level.Good understand of different topologies, hard as well as soft switching topologies.Comfortable of work and operate with high voltage semiconductors. Experiences with circuits design, component selection, loss calculation, layout, magnetic design, from automotive background is a plus.Fundamental knowledge of different semiconductors devices; Diodes, BJTs, JFETs, MOSFETs, IGBTs etc.Analytic and a team playerFamiliar with industrial standards and compliances; JEDEC, AEC-Q, UL, EMI/EMC etc. Ability to travel frequently to customers to give onsite supportDaily use of MS office software package and familiar with LT-spice, PLECS and EDA tools Fluent communication skills in English. German language skills is a plus. Preferences:MSc. in Electrical Engineering with special in Power Electronics with 5-15yrs semiconductor FAE experience and/or Power Electronics design. Experience related to customer support in high voltage (>600V) and high power applications (up to MW range).
