The company is the largest manufacturer of industrial trucks in Europe, the second-largest producer of forklifts globally and a leading provider of warehouse automation.Coordinate a team to develop and design the mechanical aspects of material handling systems for Dematic, to a given specification, within cost and time scale constraints, and to the customers’ requirements Principal Accountabilities:Specific ResponsibilitiesTo lead mechanical design aspects of projects.To interpret project layout and specification into final design layout and conveyor datalist.To provide system integration drawings and specifications.To review, check and approve unit cycle times, system throughput, and general dimensional requirements.To develop a detailed design and manufacturing programme.To give advance notice of materials required to Purchase Department.The allocation of design tasks to project related workload.The reviewing, checking and approval of project related documentation. (i.e drawings, calculations, datalists etc.)To assist with the system risk assessment (and unit risk assessment where necessary) in line with statutory requirements.Where necessary:To create detailed drawings and parts lists for equipment within scope of supply.To specify details of any additional special conveyor elements or associated equipment.To create an installation file to pass on information to the site supervisor and installation team.To create detailed Operating and Maintenance Instructions and provide spare parts lists as required. General ResponsibilitiesTo liaise with systems sales and project engineers during project phase.To liaise with project managers, customer and sub-contractors during order execution phase.To liaise with production planning and purchase departments.To provide technical information to any department so entitled, i.e electrical design, projects, service, spares.To maintain and use wherever possible, standard product information for the execution of orders. Where necessary to develop special and new standard products to suit specific projects and new markets.To comply with the company policy as defined in the Staff Handbook, Safety Manual, and Quality Assurance Manual.To update on monthly basis department reporting (cost centre forecast, staffing plan, workload chart, KPIs)Essential: At least a Degree in Mechanical EngineeringDesirable: Educated to degree level in a relevant disciplineDesirable: previous experience in materials handling industry5 years’ experience in a similar rolePrevious use of CAD toolsEnglish language skill
