Summary: As a member of the Engineering and Quotes department, the intern will be part of the translation process from the preliminary steps (quoting) until the last one (QA and preparing files for delivery) within a localization project. This team not only prepares the files for translation, but also will assess other departments on the costs and time needed to complete the project, and find solutions to the challenges that may arise during the localization project. An intern in the Engineering and Quotes department will be trained in quoting metrics, tools and procedures, parsing and scripts creation as well as working with the company’s CAT tool (Wordfast) on a daily basis, and will be able to expand knowledge on the different types of localization projects (website and software localization, eLearning…) Position responsibilities:  Analyze various file formats for localization potential Assess time/material requirements for completion of projects Prepare various file formats and technologies for translation using CAT toolsCarry out Quality Assurance procedures on translated filesMaximize the use of technology in all steps of productionProvide technical support for production team, sales and other departmentsDevelop and implement procedures for maximizing productivity through technology solutionsInterface with production team, sales and other departmentsSkills and experience required:  Be able to sign an internship agreement with the University you are enrolled inExcellent written and verbal English communication skills (other languages would be a plus)Good knowledge of CAT toolsBasic knowledge of web programming languages a plus (HTML, XML, ASP, JSP)Desire to work in a fast paced environment and be a team playerExcellent problem solving and analytical skillsStrong interpersonal skillsOrganized and motivated self-starter with a problem-solving attitude Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasksFor more than 25 years, TransPerfect has provided comprehensive language and technology solutions to help our clients communicate and conduct business more effectively in a global marketplace.
