The Technical Writer Intern will focus on developing technical documentation to support a variety of key projects that could include, but is not limited to, new hire onboarding, organizational communication, and information access. The Technical Writer Intern will focus on learning authoring tools, process and procedures for the department.
In addition to your daytoday responsibilities, program participants will be invited to a variety of formal and informal trainings, interact frequently with company leadership, and attend social events.
As a Technical Writer, your responsibilities may include:
Assess documentation needs based on product goals, usage, and reader needs.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams (Engineering, Product Management, Service and Support, Operations, and Quality Assurance) to plan projects, anticipate documentation needs, solve problems, scope deliverables, determine delivery mechanisms, and communicate progress.
Produce highquality documentation that is clear, organized, and appropriate for the target audience.
Maintain, improve, and augment existing documentation.
Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Masters in technical communications, journalism, or business writing and returning to the program after completion of the internship.
Available to work 40 hours per week during the intern cycle.
Demonstrated understanding of the technical documentation development cycle.
Demonstrated experience with modern user assistance principles and best practices, user research methodologies, Web 2.0 and Mobile industry standards and trends.
Demonstrated knowledge of content delivery networks and an understanding of network protocols and the Internet.
Comfortable working across departments within the Engineering organization.
Enjoy delving into new technologies in a highly engineeringcentric culture.
