Your new role
As a Construction Manager, you are responsible for managing the technical execution of a project according to the design and technical specifications. The main focus should be on ensuring that it is completed safe, within the approved budget, on time and in accordance with the contract and the corporate objectives. You lead, evaluate and develop a site based organization including supervisors, site engineers, and quality and safety personnel to ensure that the project is completed on time, within budget and according to project specifications. You actively support implementation of the occupational health, safety, quality and environmental policies and procedures of the company and you promote employee health and well being on the project. You report to the Project Manager.
Your responsibilities include assuringthe execution of the construction according to the health, safety, environmental and quality standards, the contract, budget, schedule and other project targets.Assuring the execution of the project according the design and advise engineers in solutions for clashes occurring during construction. Furthermore you advisethe project manager with respect to the technical execution of the project plan. You take actions to resolve operational problems and minimise any delays. You manage the activities of subcontractors to ensure they are integrated into the project in such a way that the organization receives satisfactory standards of service.
The coordination of thesupply of materials and equipment according to planning is also one of your responsibilities. In addition you assure that the equipment under custody is properly used and you monitor the progress and performance of the execution. You take security measures with respect to company properties on site and you establish and maintain effective relationships with the client, subcontractors and suppliers. You also assure that there are no breaches of statutory safety regulations and statutory environmental regulations or company requirements. Also, you are responsible for all temporary facilities such as camp, laydown yard, workshop and you areresponsible for timely demobilisation of resources after completion of activities.
What do you need to succeed
To succeed as a Construction Manager you have excellent organizational, planning and communication skills. You pay attention to details, have good analytical skills and you know how to solve a problem. You are a strong decision maker and a true team player.
Furthermore you have at least a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering. You have a minimum of 5 years experience as a superintendent and at least 10 years of experience in construction supervision in overall construction. You have knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). In addition you have a decent knowledge of MS office software.
